Last night we attempted a new way to make fried green tomatoes. They were not fried at all...we saw the recipe above in a magazine as we were awaiting treatment and decided it was worth a try. Last night we picked 2 nice sized green tomatoes from the vine of the Big Zac variety. There was enough to try the oven baked in butter and fry some in the skillet for comparison...I prefer fried with a bit of flour until crispy. As you know by now crispy for a certain someone is not feasible right now thus the new method. He liked them! Let's face it, butter makes all things taste good, but the tomatoes came out soft which is just what is needed at this time. We will be trying this again, perhaps everyday until the green tomatoes are no more for the season.
